chemical substances found in food. These substances perform unique functions in
the body to keep it healthy. Nutrients are classified into macro and micro
nutrients. Macro nutrients are nutrients required by the body in large amounts,
while micronutrients are required in very minute quantities. Examples of macro
nutrients are Fats, carbohydrates, protein, and alcohol. Examples of
micronutrients are minerals such as Iron, iodine, zinc, calcium and vitamins
such as A, B1, B2, B3, folic acid, C, E, D.
